Leoš Janáček´s Basic School [ Primary school ]

As far back as in the inventory of the seigniorial property from 1580, a school in Rychaltice is mentioned, however, it is rightly assumed that a school existed there even before. The first school was wooden and it stood on the left bank of Ondřejnice. In the middle of the 18th century a new school was built on the parson´s plot, but several years afterwards its size was insufficient. The third school was in the building with the house number 4 (near the church). In 1824 the Olomouc archbishop Rudolf built a new school masonry building, which has been standing up to the present. At the beginning of the 20th century it was rebuilt and extended, in the 1920s another classroom was added. Since 1948 the school had been sharing its premises with a kindergarten. Classrooms were liquidated after a new big school in Dolní Sklenov had been built.

In 1984 the school got the name of Leoš Janáček´s Basic School. The artist Jan Václav Sládek bequeathed 103 pictures to the school in his last will; they constitute the main decoration of the school together with the pictures by the local artist Antonín Kroča.
