Urban monuments preservation area Třeboň [ Městská památková rezervace ]
The town originated in the 13th century, when an extensive marshland was transformed into an ingenious system of pools.
The historic core comprises the square with the town hall and town houses, e. g. the house "U Bílého koníčka" ("At the Sing of the White Pony"), as well as the chateau, the former Břidlice Gate, the Church of St Giles and its monastery, the Budweis Gate, the former Rožmberk library, the Nové Hrady Gate, the Sviny Gate, the Hradec Gate and the town walls.
